This policy describes how PodSavvy (podsavvy.co.uk) handles personal data. It complies with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

PodSavvy is operated is an independent UK affiliate site.

For data-protection enquiries, contact: hello@podsavvy.co.uk

What data we collect

We collect three kinds of data:

Analytics data via Google Analytics 4. When you visit the site and accept analytics cookies, GA4 records your visit, the pages you view, your approximate location (city level, derived from your IP address), the device and browser you use, and how you arrived at the site (search engine, direct, referral). GA4 does not capture your IP address in identifiable form; it is anonymised at collection.

Contact form submissions. If you email us at hello@podsavvy.co.uk, your email address and the content of your message arrive in our inbox. We keep that conversation history for as long as the conversation is active and for 12 months after.

Comments (not currently enabled). PodSavvy does not currently have a public comments section. If we add one in the future, this policy will be updated.

What data we don’t collect

We don’t collect:

  • Your name, postal address, phone number, or any other identifier unless you provide it in a direct email
  • Any financial information (Amazon handles all purchases on amazon.co.uk; we don’t see the transaction)
  • Any health data
  • Anything from children under 13

Why we collect it

We use analytics data to understand which articles readers find useful, which pods are most-searched, and where to focus future content. We don’t use it for behavioural advertising or remarketing.

We use email contact data to reply to enquiries. We don’t add email addresses to any marketing list.

How long we keep it

GA4 retains pageview data for 26 months by default, after which it’s automatically deleted.

Email correspondence is kept for as long as the conversation continues and for 12 months after the last message.

Who we share data with

Google. GA4 data is stored on Google’s servers (in the EU and US). Google’s own privacy policy governs that storage; we only see aggregated reports.

Amazon. When you click an affiliate link to Amazon UK, you leave PodSavvy and arrive on amazon.co.uk. Anything that happens there is governed by Amazon’s privacy policy, not ours. Amazon sets a cookie on their own domain that lasts 24 hours, so our affiliate ID can be tracked back to your purchase if you buy something. We don’t see who clicked or who bought, only the aggregate sales numbers in our Associates dashboard.

Hosting and email providers. Our hosting provider (Namecheap) stores the website files. Our email provider (whoever hosts the @podsavvy.co.uk email) stores any messages you send us. These are technical processors, not data sellers.

Legal requirements. We may share data if compelled by UK law (e.g., a court order or HMRC request). This has not happened to date.

Cookies

See our cookies policy for the full list of cookies, what each one does, and how to opt out.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you (subject access request)
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete data we hold (the “right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict processing in certain cases
  • Portability of data you’ve provided
  • Object to processing for marketing or analytics purposes
  • Withdraw consent for cookies at any time via the cookie consent banner

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@podsavvy.co.uk with the subject “Data request”. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If you believe we’ve handled your data improperly, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

International data transfers

Some of our processors (Google Analytics, our email provider if hosted outside the EU) transfer data outside the UK. Where this happens, the transfer is covered by standard contractual clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For substantive changes, we’ll add a notice on the homepage for 30 days after the change.
